About Lee Shaffer

Before 1998, Lee had no idea what true bodybuilding was all about. Sure he worked out, but for different reasons. He wanted to be healthy and maintain a good shape, as he grew older. His job as a firefighter demanded good body condition, plus he enjoyed the physical aspect of working out. He read all the fitness magazines to get ideas on how to refine his workouts and to learn more about nutrition so that he could be in the best shape possible. In 1996, Lee moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and became a member of World’s Gym. The owner of the gym, Shawn White, who had competed in bodybuilding for many years, saw Lee as a diamond in the rough. Lee had naturally what others worked hard to achieve. With the guidance and advice of the gym owner he learned about the sport of bodybuilding and good nutrition and how each worked in tandem. He decided that bodybuilding was something he’d like to try. Under guidance and with dedicated persistence he started to workout and diet for his first contest. He started his bodybuilding career in 1997 and in 1998 competed in his first competition and ending that contest with 1st place in his division.

From that point on he was hooked. He continued to compete and did very well in every contest he entered. With each passing year he grew bigger and stronger. Taking the sport very seriously, Lee made a conscious choice to never do steroids or any illegal drug to artificially enhance his body. What you see is what you get. To this day he remains a Natural For Life Bodybuilder. In 1999 Lee went to Vegas to compete in a show and by accident came across someone who would become a life long friend. One of the Judges, who happen to also be a promoter of the ANBC in Las Vegas, recognized Lee as a natural bodybuilder trying to compete against other bodybuilders who had at one time cycled or used drugs to enhance their muscle structure. Knowing that there weren’t a lot of all natural bodybuilders out there with Lee’s caliber and completely amazed that Lee did so well, he approached Lee and suggested he enter his show that upcoming October. Lee entered the contest and did awesome. After learning more about what the ANBC had to offer, he decided that it was just what New Mexico needed. In 2000 Lee produced his first show. His show was a great success and with each passing year grows and becomes better and better. He puts that same dedication and perseverance into each show he produces and his motto, “A bodybuilder for the bodybuilder” is what keeps athletes coming back year after year.

With the help of his friends and family, Lee is committed to producing shows of the very best quality. Last year his wife Teri became more involved and although she doesn’t compete herself, she is her husband’s biggest fan. Lee not only is a dedicated firefighter but a well-respected trainer in Albuquerque. He continues to train competitors and be the best example of what natural bodybuilding is all about. He’s a no nonsense kind of guy who is driven to provide the best information to upcoming and aspiring natural bodybuilder. His client list continues to grow and he is constantly grooming his education to be the best in his field. He has an ongoing love hate relationship with everyone he trains but those who are dedicated usually win or place in their divisions when they compete. Ask anyone of them and they’ll tell you he knows his stuff. He does more than just promote a natural bodybuilding show; he offers comprehensive training, diet tips, advice and classes on posing technique. Lee encourages any and all questions about the sport of bodybuilding. If you e-mail them to he will be more than happy to answer them.
